Current situation
Lots of blood tests, which revealed that Nevra requires an iron infusion. Her Ferritin levels are 11.8 from 79.1. She is currently battling a wisdom tooth infection and needs to have it removed as well. All 4 of her wisdom teeth need to be removed. She is also having recurrent vaginal infections during PMDD days when her progesterone rises. She received an iron infusion yesterday in the ER. It went well although she did swell up but was given anti-inflammatory medicines. We are still working on updating the GFM bio to her current situation.
Nevra thanks you for every bit of her relief as it would not be possible without your generosity, your donations and your support.
Please keep donating and spread the word as it’s equally important to us.
February 2022 receipts:
March 2022 receipts:
Sorry for the late update! TeamNevra has gotten a bit behind with our monthly updates and we apologize for that. Nevra’s February expenses came to $566.09 USD. March expenses came to $316 USD. Those totals covered everything from Food and Groceries to her Patient Advocate and even a shelf to help organize her bathroom as she settles into her new home and a humidifier to help Nevra breathe a little easier.
One thing we’d love to talk about this month is Delivery Fee’s. Since Nevra has moved some of the businesses she used have changed as have the Delivery Fee’s. Because of Nevra’s food restrictions there really are only so many shops and restaurants where she can get food, the further away they are the more they charge. It’s a small thing that really does add up! Even if it’s just between $1-$3 each time, with Nevra unable to go and do her own shopping these fee’s are tacked on to absolutely everything. Nevra also had several Doctors visits during February. As any #Spoonie can tell you, being Chronically Ill is a lot of work! Nevra needs medication as well as eventual surgery but to get those things she has to go to appointments with her doctors and have tests done. Doctors don’t pass out medications just because you ask, she has to be in the office in person. Unfortunately this adds further expenses such as ride services or arranging for a friend or family member to take her. All of that adds up. The Doctor costs money, the tests cost money, and the medication costs money. Unfortunately this is just one more facet of the #CripTax.
Thank you so much to the people who have generously donated, thank you to those of you who have read this, thank you to those who have prayed or send good wishes, and thank you to those of you who have chosen to donate right now! We could not do this without your support!

January was a very expensive month for Nevra! Her total costs came to 133,242.83 PKR, that is $750.03 USD. Finding safe and permanent housing meant a big chunk of change for her. The rent and deposit cost 60,000 PKR, that comes to $353 USD. Costs like this make all of us at #TeamNevra incredibly grateful for the support of those who have donated. Once again Nevra’s food costs have been on the high side. If you look at the slideshow you will see that this is due in large part to the fact that Nevra is not currently able to prepare her own food, thus she is dependent on business that meet her dietary needs and those come with added delivery fees. Within the Disability Community this is known as The Crip Tax. With great relief I can tell you that in her new home Nevra now has access to hot water from the tap! Some of you may look at that a little sideways BUT in her home country this is actually quite a luxury and has brought Nevra an incredible amount of comfort. One of the clearest realizations this respite has given Nevra is an insight into what a toll these illnesses have taken on her body. She has come to feel very disabled in her body and wants desperately to improve her condition, that is only possible through the generous contributions of those who read her story and help. Looking forward, #TeamNevra would like to share our next set of short term goals.
Nevra needs furniture! In the places Nevra has lived thus far the homes have been furnished, this home is not. Nevra is currently sleeping on an air mattress on the floor. Anyone who’s done this for more than a weekend can agree it’s extremely uncomfortable! With your amazing support Nevra was able to get luggage when she moved but now in her new home she’s still living out of suitcases. So, one of our short term goals is to get Nevra some furniture. Nothing fancy, she’s not furnishing an entire home but a few pieces of her own. We are specifically looking for a bed, mattress, and chest of drawers. Our next short term goal is to get Nevra the medication necessary for her PMDD. Nevra’s doctors have decided that until she can get surgery (more on that in a moment) she should begin the process of Chemical Menopause. For anyone unfamiliar this is the taking of GnRHa (this blocks hormone production in your brain) and then adding back in the Estrogen. The pharmaceutical addition of hormones is called HRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy. Believe it or not this is actually done by millions of menopausal women all over the world. This helps the body to have less dramatic reactions to menopause.
Let’s look at our long term goal now! What Nevra really needs is called a Hysterectomy and Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy. That is the medical term for taking out her Uterus, ovaries, Fallopian tubes, and cervix. It’s a very big surgery. To get this very big, very necessary surgery Nevra has no choice but to leave her home country to seek healthcare elsewhere. Unfortunately there literally is no surgeon near her who is well versed enough with her medical conditions to do this procedure safely. So Nevra needs to leave! She currently has a medical team spread around the globe but the doctors best able to help her are located in the US. We need to find a way to get her to the states! Luckily there is such a thing as a medical visa and Nevra is working on getting that paperwork done. What we need from donors is the money to actually get her here. We are unbelievably thankful to everyone who has already donated and grateful to everyone who has read all the way to the end of this update as well. Nevra depends on support from generous people across the world who have shared what they have even during these difficult times.
Thank you,
#TeamNevra
